Nissan Unveils the New Elgrand at Japan Mobility Show 2025

At the Japan Mobility Show 2025, Nissan revealed exciting developments that underscore the company’s renewed focus on innovation and customer-centric design. Among the highlights were the debut of the all-new Elgrand, the confirmed return of the Patrol to the Japanese market, and the public debut of the refreshed Ariya electric vehicle. These unveilings reflect Nissan’s strategic vision outlined in its Re:Nissan plan, emphasizing both tradition and forward-thinking technology.

Introducing the All-New Nissan Elgrand

The star of the show was the world premiere of the fourth-generation Nissan Elgrand, a model that has long been cherished as a premium MPV within Nissan’s domestic lineup. Drawing inspiration from the 2023 Hyper Tourer Concept, the new Elgrand boasts a striking exterior featuring a pixel-patterned front fascia, an illuminated Nissan logo, and a sleek full-width LED light bar that gives it a distinctive presence on the road.

Rooted in Nissan’s design philosophy dubbed "Timeless Japanese Futurism," the vehicle beautifully marries traditional Japanese aesthetics with a modern, sophisticated look. New color options like Fuji Dawn and Shigoku add to its cultural appeal, emphasizing the vehicle’s unique Japanese heritage.

A Luxurious and Tech-Forward Interior

Inside, Nissan has completely reimagined the cabin to elevate comfort and sophistication. The interior now features dual 14.3-inch integrated displays, plush zero-gravity captain’s chairs, and refined TailorFit leather upholstery. To augment the premium experience, the vehicle is equipped with a 22-speaker Bose sound system and 64-color ambient lighting, creating a welcoming and customizable environment for passengers.

Advanced Powertrain and Safety Features

Under the hood, the Elgrand is powered by Nissan’s third-generation e-POWER hybrid system, paired with a new e-4ORCE electric all-wheel-drive setup. This marks the first time Nissan incorporates this advanced system into a model, aiming to deliver enhanced stability and a smoother ride by minimizing body movement during acceleration and braking. Additionally, the SUV features ProPILOT 2.0, a driver-assistance system that enables hands-free driving at speeds up to 50 km/h, marking a significant step toward autonomous driving capabilities.

Looking Ahead

Scheduled to go on sale in Japan by summer 2026, the new Elgrand positions itself as a strong contender among premium MPVs, competing with models like the Toyota Alphard, Vellfire, and Honda Odyssey. With this launch, Nissan reaffirms its commitment to blending innovative technology with rich cultural design, promising a refined experience for Japanese drivers and families alike.
